1. Application of These Terms

‍ ‍

These Terms apply to all domestic (non-business) customers. By instructing us to carry out work, you agree to these Terms. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer protection laws.

2. Quotations & Scope of Work

‍ ‍

All quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Quotations are based on a visual inspection and information provided. If additional work becomes necessary due to hidden defects, system contamination, unsafe or non-compliant installations, or other unforeseen issues, we will inform you and obtain approval before carrying out additional chargeable work.

3. Access & Customer Responsibilities

‍ ‍

You must provide safe, clear, and reasonable access to the work area and ensure gas, water, and electricity supplies are available, including access to loft spaces with purpose installed ladder access unless agreed otherwise.  You must inform us of known faults, previous repairs, or system issues. If we are unable to access the property at the agreed time, a reasonable call-out or missed appointment charge may apply.

4. Deposits, Payments, Cancellation & Amendments

‍ ‍

4.1 For work that require deposits this will be outlined on your received quotation to accept. All work where the materials costs are expected to be at a cost of £300 or more will require to be paid for in advance, in full or by a set amount stipulated in the quote before any materials will be ordered or any work will commence.

Once the deposit has been confirmed as received, the materials will be ordered or collected at the first opportunity.

‍ ‍

Should you decide to cancel the work once you have accepted the quote and paid the requested deposit, regrettably you will suffer financial penalty for the inconvenience and costs incurred to Huddersfield Gas & Plumbing Ltd. A charge of 30% of your deposit will be retained to cover the costs of returning and restocking the materials. The rest of the deposit will be returned back to the card paid with by you, or we will contact you to request your bank details.

We will send you an invoice to reflect the charges claimed and your refund will be completed within 5-7 working days.

‍ ‍

4.2 For work booked in using our online booking system which entails repairs or maintenance work, payment will have already been taken in full during the booking system process.

‍ ‍

If you would like to change the appointment date and time with longer than 48 hours left before the appointment date and time this can be done by logging into your online booking. There will be no financial penalty for this and we will retain your payment made for the new booking date.

‍ ‍

 If you would like to cancel the appointment with longer than 48 hours left before the appointment date and time is due to start, this can be done by logging into your online booking. You will then be refunded your payment within 5-7 working days.

‍ ‍

If you would like to change the appointment date and time with less than 48 hours, but no less than 24 hours before your appointment date and time, is due to start this can be done by ourselves, please by calling us on 07903653304, or by email to enquiries@gas-engineer.com. There will be no financial penalty for this and we will retain your payment made for the new booking date.

‍ ‍

Bookings whereby the appointment date and time is due to start with less than 24 hours to go cannot be changed and cannot be cancelled under any circumstances. We, Huddersfield Gas & Plumbing Ltd will cancel your booking but no refund will be given at all of any money paid.

‍ ‍

For bookings that are not made within the online booking system and made manually over the telephone, by email or text message, the same rules will apply as if it was made by an online booking above. If you request to cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours before your appointment start date and time, you will be invoiced for the full cost of the service that was booked with payments available to be taken over the phone, paid online or by bank transfer immediately.

4.3 Servicing and repair invoices are payable upon completion unless agreed otherwise in writing. Installation work may require a deposit prior to ordering materials and staged payments where appropriate. Final payment is due upon completion of works. We will not impose unfair late payment penalties on domestic customers, but reserve the right to recover reasonable costs incurred in recovering overdue payments.

5. Cooling-Off Rights

‍ ‍

If the contract is agreed in your home or off our business premises, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 cooling off regulations. If you request work to begin during the less than 14 days away from the time of booking you have no legal right to a 14-day cooling off period Any work cancelled within 14 days between booking and the works being carried out, can be charged for in full, please refer to 4. Deposits, Payments, Cancellation & Amendments

6. Workmanship Guarantee

‍ ‍

We guarantee our workmanship for 12 months unless stated otherwise. This guarantee covers defects arising directly from our installation work. It does not cover pre-existing faults, system contamination (including sludge), manufacturer defects, lack of maintenance, accidental damage, misuse, or third-party interference. This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights.

All materials provided by Huddersfield Gas & Plumbing Ltd comes with 12 months warranty for defects. Should a defect occur, we will replace the parts or materials at no cost to the customer.

‍ ‍

Any materials or parts provided by the customer will have no warranty. Replacement of these parts with any defects will be at the cost of the customer who original provided said part. Charges for replacement parts and labour will apply.

‍ ‍

7. Existing Heating Systems

‍ ‍

When installing a new boiler onto an existing heating system, performance may be affected by the condition of existing pipework and radiators. The engineer will flush the system to the best condition possible in the time frame quoted for. We may recommend system cleaning, filters, or upgrades where appropriate. We are not responsible for faults arising from pre-existing system defects or contamination.

8. Repairs & Diagnostics

‍ ‍

Fault finding is based on symptoms present at the time of inspection. In older systems, additional faults may arise after initial repairs. Repairing one fault does not guarantee that unrelated faults will not develop.

‍ ‍

9. Damage & Making Good

‍ ‍

We will take reasonable care when working in your property. However, access to concealed pipework or appliances may require limited removal of fixtures or finishes. Unless agreed in writing, redecoration and cosmetic reinstatement are not included.

10. Liability

‍ ‍

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our negligence or breach of contract. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable at the time the contract was formed.

11. Complaints Procedure

‍ ‍

If you are dissatisfied with our work, please contact us using the details above. We will investigate promptly and aim to resolve any issues within a reasonable timeframe. Please make your complaint by email to enquiries@gas-engineer.com.

‍ ‍

If you have a complaint, please contact us straight away in order to allow us to be able rectify the issue to maintain a good company – customer relationship. We advise against discussing your grievance online through social media platforms or vocally with other persons until we have been given fair time to rectify. If this is found to have occurred, we may refuse to investigate your complaint.

COOLING-OFF NOTICE

‍ ‍

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The cancellation period expires 14 days after the day the contract is agreed.

To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision to cancel by a clear statement (for example, a letter sent by post or email).

If you requested us to begin the performance of services during the cancellation period, you shall pay us an amount proportionate to the work performed until cancellation is communicated.
